The Champlain Islands Parent Child Center (CIPCC) was founded in 1988 in Alburgh, VT.  Alburgh is a rural village situated on a breezy corner in Northwest Vermont along Lake Champlain.  In its inception, CIPCC moved into a small duplex apartment in the heart of the village to make deeper connections with the families and children in its neighborhoods.

The founders' vision was to have resources and supports accessible to all Grand Isle parents with young children, granting each family an optimal opportunity to have a happy and healthy start.  This agency aimed to bring its community together one opportunity at a time.  Playgroups were held in local churches, home visits were granted to new parents and other educational opportunities were developed in collaboration with its community partners.  A small, dedicated Board of Directors has led this organization forward with this vision.

This tight-knit island community embraced CIPCC’s vision allowing it to grow and expand its services now offering two full day NAEYC accredited Early Education Schools in South Hero and in Alburgh serving 75 children a week.  As CIPCC developed its school’s curriculum, it continued to expand its services by providing more home visits, a diversity of playgroups, healthy baby visits, collaborating with new partners to create adult education opportunities.  Our program currently serves 562 families throughout Grand Isle County.  We believe that where friendship begins, learning grows.
